What is the main difference between natural stone and quartz surfaces?

Natural stones, such as granite and marble, are unique pieces quarried from the earth; they offer high heat resistance but are porous and require periodic sealing to prevent stains. Quartz, on the other hand, is an engineered surface (composed of roughly 90-95% natural quartz and resins). This makes it entirely non-porous, highly stain-resistant, and consistent in color, though it is more sensitive to extreme heat.

Do JP Surfaces countertops scratch or stain easily?

Durability depends on the material chosen: Quartz & Porcelain are extremely resistant to stains from coffee, wine, and oils. Granite is highly scratch-resistant, but requires sealing to maintain its stain resistance. Marble is more delicate and porous; it is best suited for low-traffic areas or decorative accents.

Can I place hot pans directly on the surface?

It depends on the material: granite and porcelain can handle high temperatures without immediate damage. Quartz is not recommended, because it contains resin, so thermal shock or excessive heat can cause permanent yellowing or cracking. Always use trivets or heat pads.

What types of edge profiles are available?

The edge finish defines the style of your project. Our most popular options include eased/straight, for a clean, modern look; bullnose, a classic, fully rounded edge; and mitered, which creates the illusion of a much thicker, solid slab by joining pieces at a 45-degree angle, hiding the seams.

How should I perform daily cleaning?

When it comes to high-end surfaces, less is more. Use only water, pH-neutral dish soap, and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges and harsh chemicals like bleach, vinegar, or lemon-based cleaners, which can dull the polish or damage the resin in engineered stones. Always wipe up spills, especially wine or turmeric, immediately.

What is the process from the initial quote to final installation?

We follow a four-step process to ensure a perfect fit. Estimate: based on your floor plan or approximate measurements. Template (final measurement): our team visits the site to take precise laser measurements, after the cabinets are permanently installed. Fabrication: precision cutting and polishing at our facility. Installation: expert assembly to ensure seamless joints and a perfect finish.
